Our scheme is designed to highlight the importance of study in mathematics and languages at a higher level. This is in line with government and industry policies.
Bonus Points are automatically added to the university aggregate of applicants who have successfully completed Specialist Mathematics and/or a language other than English (LOTE) at SACE Stage 2 level. The LOTE can be any language other than English, regardless of whether it is taken at Beginners, Continuers or background Speakers level. Please note that English as a Second Language is not a LOTE.
The scheme offers up to four bonus points each for Specialist Mathematics and LOTE subject, depending on performance.
C grade (C-, C or C+) = 2 points
B grade (B-, B or B+) = 3 points
A grade (A-, A or A+) = 4 points
The Bonus Points scheme applies to eligible local applicants. Applicants with the International Baccalaureate (IB) or the interstate equivalent of the SACE, and international applicants who have completed their year 12 qualification on-shore are eligible if they have successfully completed equivalent subjects.
Conditions and Exclusions:
Applicants can receive bonus points under both the Specialist Mathematics/LOTE bonus points scheme and the Fairway Access and Equity Scheme to a maximum of nine points.
The Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery program will no longer include bonus points for Specialist Mathematics/LOTE, however selection will still include Fairway bonus points.
