The Student Leadership Certificate Program (SLCP)

What is the SLCP?

The Student Leadership Certificate Program (SLCP) formally acknowledges students who commit to and participate in leadership programs and activities within the University.

Due the limited places available, entry into the program is competitive and there is no guarantee that a student can complete the requirements for the Certificate of Student Leadership.

The Program is open to current students of the University of Adelaide only.
What is leadership?
 Leadership refers to the act of leading a group of people. It includes the higher functioning roles where a student is engaged in purposeful interaction towards a goal.
Requirements for the SLCP
  • Complete the compulsory 5 leadership training workshops offered by TAS - training is usually held during the Semester Two mid-semester break
  • Successfully complete 120 hours leadership service in SLCP-approved programs (40 of the 120 hours must be in group or team leadership activities)
  • Maintain academic progress (GPA 4+)
  • Meet as required with SLCP Coordinator to develop personal leadership skills that link with Graduate Attributes and reflective practices
Hours that contribute to ‘Leadership'
  • Group and team work (demonstrating a leadership role e.g. as a mentor)
  • Organising events and problem solving
  • Other tasks approved by the Coordinators and the TAS
How long do I have?
 The 120 hours must be completed within the duration of your degree or studies (including Postgraduate).
How do I apply?
 The recruitment and selection process occurs annually. Interested students must complete the Expression of Interest Form (EOI) which will be published on Unified. The next EOI round will be in July 2013.
