Union Hall

The Union Hall is an intimate proscenium arch theatre positioned opposite the Barr Smith Lawns at the University of Adelaide. The Union Hall is managed by the Faculty of Performing Arts. The Union Hall was built in 1958 and has been used by the Festival of Arts, and Adelaide University Theatre Guild for many years. The Union is occupied between 9-2pm weekdays during semester time by the Science Department.

Recently the Union Hall has been upgraded as part of a long term plan to refurbish the theatre. Recent upgrades to the hall include:-

  • a new stage floor
  • a sound system
  • new stage lights
  • a computerised lighting board
  • new talkback and communications system
  • new dressing room mirrors
  • a total restrucure and refurbishment to the control rooms
  • refurbishment of the auditorium- including new seats, flooring, painting and lighting.
  • computerised audio visual system - including video projector, vcr, lectern, sound, system.
  • new disabled access ramps
  • new airconditioning
