Information for Staff
Who is entitled to a Staff Identity Card?All staff holding a permanent position or a contract of employment of more than three months with the University will be issued with a University Identity Card. Other staff eligible for a University Identity Card are Title Holders, including Clinical, Affiliate and Adjunct staff, Emeritus Professors and Doctors of the University. Staff holding a casual or casual contract (tutoring or part-time teacher) position are ineligible for a Card but may obtain a library borrowing card from the Barr Smith Library. Departments who wish their casual staff members to hold an Identity Card may authorise and pay for such a card. How to get a Staff Identity Card?New staff are issued with the University of Adelaide Identity Card at the time of appointment. In general, staff identity cards will be available at Card Services for North Terrace, Waite and Thebarton-based staff and for Roseworthy staff through the Library at the Roseworthy Campus. Newly appointed Waite Campus staff may request a card through the Faculty Office, Waite Main Building. To collect a staff identity card the staff member must present their appointment schedule along with photo identification such as a drivers license, passport etc. Upon presentation a Card Services staff member will take a photo and produce the Identity card on the spot. External (off campus) staff who are unable to attend Card Services during our office hours of Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday 8:45am-5:00pm or Tuesday 9:30am-5:00pm, have the following two options available:
Please note that if you submit your card request during the enrolment period or at the beginning of the year please allow up to 2 weeks for delivery of your ID card.
Replacement CardsLost/stolen cards must be reported immediately to Card Services. All lost / stolen & damaged replacement cards will incur a fee of $20. In general, replacement staff cards will be available at Card Services for North Terrace, Waite and Tebarton-based staff and through the Roseworthy Faculty Office for Roseworthy staff.
Building Access
If a form needs to be processed within a few hours (for example on a Friday afternoon for weekend access), the access request form must be submitted by 4pm. Card Services will attempt to process all urgent requests where reasonable. An Access Control Delegate or Reserve Delegate may request that access privileges be removed by indicating as much on an Access Request Form, which should also be returned to Card Services. Visitors to the University may also be entitled to building access, if authorised by an Access Control Delegate. Visitors, or the authorising area, must purchase a visitor card for a fee onto which the access privileges can be encoded. Visitor Cards will remain active unless the Access Control Delegate has notified Card Services to deactivate the access.
Library CardThe ID Card entitles you to borrow books from the University of Adelaide Library (comprising the Barr Smith Library, Law Library and Elder School Library on the North Terrace Campus and libraries on Waite and Roseworthy campuses), to access E-Resources on line and to operate the photocopying and printing facilities in the Library. Staff LDAP/NDS/ESO PasswordSetting my LDAP/NDS/ESO password for the first time and re-setting of forgotten passwords. Your University Staff Directory account enables you to access a range of services including University Staff Email, Internet Access, Access Adelaide, ESO (your payslip), Calendar, online library services, MyUni, Desktop Login and Dial-in service etc. Due to the sensitive nature of this information, you cannot request that your password be reset over the telephone or via email. You can have your password reset in one of the following ways: 1. Visit Card Services in the Student Centre, with photo identification. Card Services staff have access to a facility, which will enable you to reset your password. Do not tell Card Services staff your password. In order to ensure the security of your account, you must type the password yourself. 2. If you are situated at Waite or Roseworthy Campus you can all the ITS Helpdesk on 8303 3000, ITS will then arrange for you to be contacted by an IT computing officer at that location. 3. If you are unable to attend in person at any of North Terrace, Waite or Roseworthy campuses, please refer to the Password advice on the ITS web-site.
AccessoriesCard Services can take care of all your card related needs. Card Services offers two types of card holders for sale: 1. Soft plastic PVC holder with strap slot and chain holes. 2. Impact Resistant Card Holder with strap slot and chain holes. These card holders can be worn by University staff and students as a badge into which their card can be inserted for identification purposes. Both holders come with an alligator clip.
