Veterinary Nurses
Julie (Pharmacy)
I have been a Veterinary Nurse for 20 years, dealing with all aspects of in the veterinary field. I started later in life and had a great opportunity given to me by Dr Alistair Brown (retired). I started working for Dr Brown and had no knowledge regarding the veterinary field. I soon realised I loved the job and working closely with the patients and their owners. I gained my Certificate 4 and have never looked back.
My career has ranged from general practice to Emergency work. I am very happy to have joined the team at the Companion Animal Health Centre where I am looking for to new challenges and working in a teaching environment.
Matthew

I have been in the animal industry for 15 years. My qualifications include Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and an Animal Husbandry qualification.
Whilst studying I work in small animal practice and specialised in emergency and surgical nursing. I am experienced in wildlife care, utilising these skills as an SES worker in my spare time.
I enjoy a good laugh, making the working environment a happy place but serious when needed. I'm keen to share my skills and life experience with trainee vet nurses and student veterinarians.
James

My name is James and I am a veterinary nurse at the Companion Animal Health Centre.
I am originally from a small town in the Riverina 100 km north of Wagga, NSW. I have always loved animals even as a young child.
I studied at TAFE throughout my school years starting Animal Care Certificate II while I was in year 10. After completing the course I decided to further my studies and enrolled in Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing while I was in year 12.
I enjoy sports such as tennis, football, cricket and swimming.
Hayley

I have worked in the Veterinary Industry for 4 ½ years. I began my veterinary career working as an animal attendant in a Veterinary Clinic in Two Wells in 2006. I started my Veterinary Nursing traineeship there in early 2007, completing my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2009. I find Veterinary Nursing to be a stimulating and rewarding profession.
I have a special interest in surgical and anaesthetic nursing and am looking forward to furthering my skills in this area. I have always had a passion for animals both in my veterinary career and at home.
I have 40 sheep, 5 cattle, 3 alpacas and 1 pet budgie at home. When not at work I enjoy looking after our animals, building model cars, listening to music and going to the gym.
Jessica (with Missy)

I have worked in the animal industry for the past three years in a retail capacity and during this time I have developed a passion for animal husbandry and nutrition.
I hope to further develop these passions as well as discovering new ones as I complete my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in the near future.
I am so excited to have the opportunity to begin my veterinary nursing career in such a vibrant, state of the art facility and with such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable team.
Heidi (Animal Attendant)
I was born in Leigh Creek S.A. I've always had a passion for animals (the family calls it an obsession!) I came into the animal care industry through the Animal Welfare League about 9 years ago as a volunteer, and as a staff member.
Before coming to Roseworthy, I worked in a veterinary practice in the Adelaide northern suburbs as an animal attendant.
When Ii'm not working, I like to take time out by listening to music, watching movies, reading, gardening, spending time with my pets and bushwalking. I'm also interested in animal behaviour and native wildlife.
