Animal Husbandry Extra Mural Studies (AHEMS)
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Bioscience) degree are required to spend 12 weeks gaining animal husbandry experience.
This must be completed before the end of the mid-semester break in semester 2 of Level III of the program. Students are expected to undertake placements in their vacation periods.

Students enrolled in the Veterinary Bioscience Program should have access to an AHEMS My Uni site appropriate for their level of entry into the program and expected year of graduation. For help with getting enrolled into My Uni please contact the EMS Administration office in the Williams building.

Students are able to commence AHEMS placements after successfully passing Animal Handling and Husbandry I (Veterinary Bioscience) (ANIML SC 1017RW) providing other appropriate checks have been met.
Students transferring from Animal Science into Veterinary Bioscience are advised to complete 1 week of AHEMS prior to commencing Professional Skills in Veterinary Bioscience II (VET SC 2500RW) in 2nd year.
All AHEMS requirements must be completed to a satisfactory standard before students are eligible to graduate from the Veterinary Bioscience program.
