Animal Husbandry Extra Mural Studies (AHEMS)
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Bioscience) degree are required to spend 12 weeks gaining animal husbandry experience.
This must be completed before the end of the mid-semester break in semester 2 of Level III of the program. Students are expected to undertake placements in their vacation periods.

Commencing and Completing AHEMS
Students are able to commence AHEMS placements after successfully passing Animal Handling and Husbandry I (Veterinary Bioscience) (ANIML SC 1017RW) providing other appropriate checks have been met.
All AHEMS requirements must be completed to a satisfactory standard before students are eligible to graduate from the Veterianry Bioscience program.
Sonia is the student placement system used to manage students AHEMS Placements. Any questions regarding booking placements and Sonia should be directed to EMS Administration Office email or phone 8313 7607.
Students enrolled in the Veterinary Bioscience Program should have access to an AHEMS MyUni site appropriate for their level of entry into the program and expected year of graduation. For help with getting enrolled into MyUni please contact Dr Wendy Hamood (EMS Coordinator).
