Chiron – The Core Curriculum Database
Chiron is a searchable database defining the specific clinical competencies and underpinning knowledge veterinary students are expected to acquire before graduating. These outcomes are constructed around a comprehensive list of problems/presentations, for all species, faced by veterinary practitioners. For each problem/presentation the underpinning knowledge and specific competencies required to diagnose, understand and manage all aspects of the clinical problem are identified. As such, Chiron acts as a resource to give structure to the placement of topics/skills within the curriculum by the faculty as well as a “checklist” for the students to assess their competencies against the expected outcomes in any given area of expertise.
