Progress ReportMarch 2009The Curriculum Committee is meeting on a regular basis. It has ratified a set of Curriculum Vision Statements developed at a Conference attended by a substantial group of academics, stakeholders including members of the profession, and visiting academic advisors from other veterinary schools. These are driving the design and implementation of the curriculum. To ensure that the curriculum incorporates the latest developments in professional education Professor Gail Anderson and the School’s educational advisor, Professor David Newble, visited in October 2008 some of the most innovatory veterinary schools in Europe and North America (see report). A Curriculum Plan has been developed and is outlined in a substantial report. This can be accessed from this site and comments from students, staff and stakeholders are encouraged. Please direct feedback to Mandy Holloway. Work is currently being undertaken to finalize a set of Outcome Objectives and a list of Problems/Situations faced by veterinary practitioners to be used to focus the teaching in all parts of the program on clinical and scientific material that is directly relevant to practice (see report of Curriculum Workshop, Feb 2009). This information will be made readily available through an on-line electronic database to be called Chiron. A more detailed report on the Workshop which helped develop this data base is available on this site. Planning for the new teaching and hospital facilities at the Roseworthy Campus is near completion. A formal ‘sod-turning’ ceremony will be conducted at the end of this month.
