This Prize has been established by a contribution to the University by VetPrac, an organisation which provides practical skills training for registered veterinarians in clinical practice.
- The prize will be awarded by the University annually, to a Level III student undertaking the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences. To be considered, the student must submit an essay assessing practical learning during clinical placement which will be reviewed by staff members teaching into the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. The essay must be no longer than 1,000 words and address one or more practical techniques that the student has learned in clinical placement.
- The prize is comprised of two parts; the first is a $500 cash prize and the second is a surgical training voucher valued at $2,500.
- The essay will be judged on the student’s ability to show the importance of bridging the gap between learning and doing. The winner shall be determined by the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences prize committee or their designated representative(s).
