Logotype: Placement for Print ApplicationsWith the exception of letterhead, business cards, with compliments slips and other standard desktop stationery, where the logo will always appear top right, the placement of the logo will depend on the material being produced. It will normally appear at the top right of a document or publication, but in some circumstances (eg press advertising) may appear top left or at the bottom, by approval of the Director, Marketing & Strategic Communications. Clearspace and Minimum SizeWherever the logo appears, clearspace rules apply. To ensure that the logotype stands clear on the page, no other graphic or typographic element should appear within this space. Utilising the 'shield' component of the logo as a measure, the minimum clear space area is denoted by the blue rules in the diagrams below.
The legibility of the logotype is critical to its recognition. Therefore a minimum reproduction scale has been established. The minimum width of the shield symbol, not including the name typography, is 7mm. |
