Disk Quotas

University website disk space needs to be allocated in a systematic, fair and logical manner, that encourages regular update of content and prevents the event of running out of disk space on the server.

This applies to the storage of data on the centrally owned university web servers, webdev.adelaide.edu.au and www.adelaide.edu.au, and does not cover other university web servers or databases: .

Website disk space will be allocated per website, which many website maintainers may share.  Upon creation of a new website, an Online Media team member allocates a disk quota limit.  The default allocation is 100MB disk space.

Responsibilities
Online Media will administer the website space defined within this policy to website maintainers.

ITS will provide adequate disk space for the purposes of university web publishing and ensure that the application hosting infrastructure is maintained to agreed service levels.  ITS will ensure that the website space is backed up to meet industry standards.

Website maintainers are required to manage their data within the space allocated to them.  This may involve the archiving of data if their space limit has been reached.  The archiving of data is a website maintainer responsibility.  Those requiring advice on how to archive should contact the Online Media Team.

Website Space Management
Website space is allocated and renewed annually.

In keeping with University policies and AARNet guidelines, all material that is stored on University webserver space must relate only to the research, educational, community service and administrative purposes of the University and is not intended for personal use.

Quota and Pricing Changes
The University reserves the right to make changes to the quota and pricing discussed in this document as capacity, technology and costs change.

University website disk space needs to be allocated in a systematic, fair and logical manner, that encourages regular update of content and prevents the event of running out of disk space on the server.

Disk Quota Extensions
Website Maintainers who have determined that they require additional space may request an extension of their space limit.  Disk space in excess of the original allocation may incur an ongoing fee.

Requests for space extensions must be made in writing to the Manager, Online Media, Marketing and Strategic Communications.
