For Students

"Going to university is about creating opportunities for yourself. It is a great place to make new friends and learn valuable skills you can share with your community. My studies have enabled me to not only achieve my own personal dream of becoming a highly accomplished performer but also to pursue my long term academic and professional goals."

Testimonials

Eunice Kite, Associate Diploma in Aboriginal Studies in Music

Eunice Kite Hi my name is Eunice Kite; I completed the Associate Diploma in Aboriginal Studies in Music at CASM in 2008. I'm a mother of three and I have a grandchild, so yes my life is hectic at imes, but I enjoyed my studies.

I came to CASM to do what I love best, which is singing. At CASM I  learnt to play guitar and mandolin, compose songs, and loads of other things academically.

I'm pretty excited as this has opened doors to employment within the community, and has also given me opportunities in performance as well as meeting a wide range of people in the music industry. I am now involved in the planning of a community project creating after school music programs for 5-12 year olds.

Seriously, CASM has been a great learning experience that has offered fantastic opportunities I thought I'd never achieve.

Rebecca Richards, Bachelor of Arts

Rebecca Richards I am a young, Adnyamathana Aboriginal woman. I am undertaking a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and anthropology as I wish to keep going with my studies and pursue a career in clinical psychology and by also majoring in anthropology I hope to be able to interpret these health issues cross-culturally.

I am also the first recipient of the state government's Terry Roberts Memorial Scholarship for Indigenous South Australians. The scholarship was established to support Indigenous students undertaking full-time university study by providing up to $8,000 over four years to the successful recipient.

I am an advocate for Indigeous health with Oxfam International Media Team, Rotary Health Research Fund, Young indigenous Professionals Group, and Indigenous Youth Mobility Programme (IYMP).

My goal is to establish a place within regional hospitals and communities where Indigenous and non-Indigenous people with mental illness can be treated with repect and dignity. I also desire not only to administer treatments to people with mental illness, but help them realise goals that are personalised and sensitive to their differing environs, life experiences and cultures.
