Academic Progress
The academic success of Indigenous students is very important to CAIRS and the University. We want Indigenous people to succeed and to graduate in their chosen field of study. As such, a check of all Indigenous and non-Indigenous student's academic progress is conducted by the University to monitor achievement and to assist students who may be having difficulty academically.
Further information about the University's policy on 'Unsatisfactory Academic Progress' can be found at https://webdev.adelaide.edu.au/student/policies/uap/
At the end of each semester, the Grade Point Average (GPA) is calculated for all coursework students except those in the MBBS, BDS and BOH programs. Students whose GPA falls to 2.8 or below for the first time, are sent a First Risk Notification letter. Students whose GPA falls to 2.8 or below for a second time, are sent a Second Risk Notification letter. Students whose GPA falls to 2.8 or below for the third time, are sent a Show Cause Notification letter, asking them to explain why they should not be excluded from their program.
Indigenous students are encouraged to contact a Student Support Officer at Wilto Yerlo on 8303 3623 if they receive a Risk Notification letter from the University. Student Support Officers can also assist with a study plan, free tutoring service or counseling on any personal matters that may impact on academic success, as well as provide assistance with a submission in response to your Show Cause Notification letter.
