Dole or No Dole - The Advertiser

A proposal by Federal Opposition Leader Tony Abbott to ban young people from receiving the dole has been met with criticism by employment experts and political opponents. Abbott stated the welfare system encouraged people to dodge work. Associate Professor John Spoehr told The Advertiser that the "dole bludger was now largely an urban myth" and that reforms over the last decade have made the process of receiving benefits quite onerous.
