Tax Grab Rises, But Cutbacks Still Planned - The Advertiser

8 June 2010

The Advertiser reports that figures released show land tax and stamp duty are rising as the Government is looking at significantly improved finances at the end of the year. Despite this there are still plans to cut the public sector to save money. The article draws on Associate Professor John Spoehr's recent article in the Adelaide Review where he comments, "it is not smart policy to cut 1600 jobs from the public sector given the relatively optimistic economic outlook ahead".
