Mark O’Donoghue's Meditation CD: Simple Meditations to Live By on sale for $20 Presenter profile:Mark O’Donoghue: Student Counsellor, Counselling Service, The University of Adelaide; Work Place Counsellor, Access-Ocar ServicesTrainer, Adelaide North Eastern Division of General Practice BA Hons (Psych), B Soc Admin, Grad Dip Family Therapy, Member AASW. Meditation sits at the centre of my life. I began meditating regularly in 1987. In 1996 I took a year’s leave to practise and study meditation full time in Australia. Then in 2003, I spent 6 months meditating at Buddhist monasteries in Thailand, Burma and Sri Lanka. Each year I spend three to four weeks in meditation retreat. Since 1997 I have supervised meditation classes: at the University of Adelaide Counselling Service, in the public and private sectors, and as a part of my Stress Management Courses for workers and in my Meditation Based Stress Management course. In 2005 I began supervising meditation classes for staff members at The University of Adelaide. In my work as a counsellor I have been exploring the application of Buddhism and meditation to therapy and have published an article and presented two conference papers on that topic. I have practised and studied yoga since 1991 and completed the first year of the Satyananda teacher training degree (2002) and the four week yoga intensive at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai, India (2003). I specialise in introducing people to meditation in a clear, straightforward and realistic way, so that they can develop a relationship to meditation that is appropriate for their lives.
