ARRIVE and PREPARE Guidelines endorsed by ANZCCART
In line with ANZCCART’s long-standing policy of promoting the highest professional standards when it comes to research that involves the use of animals, at the December Meeting the ANZCCART Board formally endorsed both the ARRIVE and the PREPARE Guidelines.

2018 ANZCCART Conference
The 2018 Conference will be held in Canberra, ACT from Tuesday 24 to Thursday 26 July. Keep checking the website for more information.
2018 AEC Member of the Year Award
We are now accepting nominations for the AEC Member of the Year Award for 2018.
As of 2017, there will be one award given to an Australian AEC Member and one award given to a New Zealand AEC Member. Nominations for the 2018 Award will be accepted up until Friday 1 June 2018.

2018 Aquatic Symposium, UNSW
In 2018 the University of New South Wales will be hosting a symposium on aquatic animals to be held 31 January to 2 February at the UNSW Sydney.
The main theme of this event is fish health and welfare. The symposium covers aquatic species in research, wild and public aquariums with a special focus on laboratory zebrafish during the second day of the symposium.
The following expert speakers have been confirmed:
- Professor Craig Johnson will be speaking about fish pain
- Dr Marcus Crim presenting advances in zebrafish health monitoring
- A/Prof Culum Brown speaking about fish intelligence and sentience
- Dr Richmond Loh speaking about diseases of freshwater fish
The event will be of interest to aquarists and aquatic professionals, animal technicians, facility managers, veterinarians, animal welfare officers and AEC members.
