Adelaide University has moved up the QS World University Rankings, reaching 79th position.
This improvement of three places on our inaugural ranking solidifies Adelaide University’s place as a global top 100 university.
The research and discovery, employability and outcomes, learning experiences, global engagement and sustainability of more than 8000 global institutions were evaluated as part of the rankings process.
Amongst 36 other Australian institutions, Adelaide University was ranked in the top 10 (8th) overall and ranked second for its international research network.
“The rise in our QS World University Rankings confirms the strengths of Adelaide University across research, education, global engagement and impact and is a testament to the hard work of our staff, students and the broader university community,” Adelaide University Vice Chancellor and President Professor Nicola Phillips said.
“We take enormous pride in the contribution that our people are making across both research and education, solving multigenerational challenges and supporting our local, national and global communities.
“Whether working with industry, government, or institutions around the world, our focus is on creating knowledge, opportunity and impact that extends beyond our campuses.
“Our commitment to increasing our global standing is unwavering, and today's ranking is a clear signal that we are on the right trajectory.
“To be ranked among the world’s top 100 universities, and second in Australia for international research networks, is an encouraging sign that Adelaide University is already building global recognition and influence.”
Premier Peter Malinauskas said research and development was the best way to unlock new economic growth for the state.
“Ranking 79th in the world is a remarkable achievement for our new university which only opened its doors to students a few months ago,” he said.
“Through our new $50 million Research and Development Productivity Fund, we will establish new research and development institutes to work closely with businesses and universities to further grow prosperity for SA.
“To be placed in the top 100 universities in the world and second in Australia for international research networks will enable Adelaide University to attract more research investment for South Australia.”
Minister for State Development Chris Picton congratulated the University on its new ranking.
"The Malinauskas Labor Government made a significant commitment to create this new world class education institution, so it is incredible to see the new University has achieved its highest ever ranking,” Picton said.
“A strong Adelaide University will deliver long-term benefits for future generations of South Australians and the state’s economy.
“A lot of hard work has gone into the merger and I would like to congratulate all involved for being able to improve the ranking through this transition process.”
