About the building

The AHMS building has been designed to transform the way our students learn, enhance the student experience and prepare future health care leaders for professional practice.

It brings together more than 1600 students and 600 health researchers in a vibrant and innovative environment, where learning and discovery work hand in hand.

Over 12 floors, the building contains state of the art facilities, including:

  • 4 floors of modern research laboratories, which will bring together multidisciplinary research groups;
  • 3 lecture theatres
  • 24 advanced simulation suites, which mirror the new RAH and enable immersive, skill-based learning
  • A dental hospital, where students will be based alongside professional dentists, delivering oral health services to the community;
  • Learning and social environments that promote collaboration across medicine, nursing, dentistry and health and medical sciences.

Located in BioMed City, the building’s integration with the new Royal Adelaide Hospital (nRAH) and South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), will build on our 130+ years of partnership with the RAH, and will facilitate greater research collaboration.
