Winery turns its hand to make sanitiser for local community

Angove Family Winemakers is testament to how businesses are helping the wider community during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Riverland winery is making and donating hand sanitsers to the Renmark Medical Clinic, Hospital and Nursing Home.

Victoria Angove (Bachelor of Commerce, 1998) responded quickly after hearing the local medical clinic was struggling to get supplies.

"It was a pretty easy decision to help them, and something small that we could do for the community during these extraordinary times,” said Victoria.

“We have just finished vintage and the distillation season is underway, with our St Agnes Distillery in full operation. We have only produced relatively small volumes of hand sanitiser so whilst there has been some additional work, we are lucky to have a dedicated, hardworking team that have integrated it into their normal workloads,” she said.

“At this stage we are very focused on our core business. We don’t wish to change our focus and go into commercial production of hand sanitiser. Our priority has always been to ensure we can look after the health and safety of our own team, and then donate as much as we are able, to help our local medical areas in need.”
