Traumatic Dental Injuries (TDIs)               

Impact injuries that occur to the teeth and/or other soft and hard tissues within and surrounding the oral cavity are known as traumatic dental injuries (TDIs). Over one billion people are affected with TDIs placing it as the fifth most prevalent condition worldwide. The practitioner information sheet on this special topic provides information on  (TDIs), in detail, particularly the burden of TDIs, aetiology of TDIs, type of teeth and injuries involved in TDIs, and the management and prevention of TDIs. The relevant information for patients regarding the causes of dental trauma, what to do in the event of a dental injury, how dental injuries are treated, care following an injury and what can be done to prevent dental injuries is included in the patient pamphlet.
