Postgraduate Research

Postgraduate Research Degrees

Postgraduate research degrees are specialised and research-intensive, and based more around one-on-one interactions with a supervisor. The Centre offers a range of exciting postgraduate research opportunities aimed at helping you make an impact in your chosen field of study.
  • Master of Science in Dentistry
  • Doctor of Philosophy

The degree of Doctor of Philosophy will be awarded for a substantial original contribution to the knowledge or understanding of the discipline and demonstrated capacity for independent research. It will normally be awarded following the submission of a conventional thesis or, preferably, of a thesis by publications, based on research undertaken during candidature. Potential applicants should consider The University of Adelaide’s information about HDR.

Research Topics and Potential Supervisors

Staffs at the Centre are involved in numerous ongoing research projects. These projects undertaken reflect their expertise in the areas of

  • Population Oral Health Research
  • Oral Epidemiology
  • Geriatric Dentistry
  • Indigenous Oral health
  • Health Services Research
  • Labour Force Research

In addition to the University of Adelaide’s entry requirements, ARCPOH will assess applicants on experience and ability to conduct research evidenced by scientific publications or prior research experience and strong interest in research in the fields. Applicants are requested to provide up-to-date CV and relevant evidences such as copies of publications. A short research proposal is also required for ARCPOH potential supervisors to assess suitability of applicants’ research interests and their experience and ability in research. International applicants should consider potential sources of scholarship that cover tuition fee and living allowance. These may include scholarships from applicants’ country.

The alignment of your interests with an area of research at the Centre and the work of potential supervisors, as well as their capacity to accept you as a student in that area will impact on the outcome of your application and future success. To ensuring that you choose a research project that can be well supervised and resourced, please refer you application to the following potential supervisors in the Centre
