Thank you for contributing to the National Child Oral Health Study ( NCOHS ) 2012-14

Researchers at the Australian Research Centre for Population Oral Health (ARCPOH) at the University of Adelaide would like to express sincere thanks for your contribution to success of the National Child Oral Health Study ( NCOHS ) 2012–14, of which you and your family were part.

NCOHS was a national collaborative study of child oral health conducted by the University of Adelaide together with all state/territory dental services. You may remember completing a questionnaire sent from us via school and having your child’s teeth checked. Your contribution has been valuable to inform policies and practices on child oral health. Please see the final report of the study.

The final report

A total of 24,664 children from all over Australia took part in NCOHS 2012-14. The number of children in the study and the information that the families contributed have made NCOHS one of the largest and most comprehensive population-based studies in child oral health worldwide. Such achievements would not have been possible without the participation of the NCOHS families.

New Phase: Tooth for Health Study 2019-20

We are proud to announce that the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) has approved our proposal to conduct a new follow-up phase with NCOHS families.

This is a wonderful achievement and a clear recognition by the policy makers of the importance of child oral health. The scientific community needs quality research such as our NCOHS study in order to inform relevant policies and practices in improving child oral health.

We name the new phase “Tooth for Health” to reflect the aims of the study that investigate links between dental and general health of children.
