This workshop is aimed at helping higher degree research students, or early career researchers, who are unsure where to publish a particular article.

Where to Publish: Choosing a Journal. CaRST Credit 1.5 hour. D: Engagement, Influence and Impact.

The focus is on tools and techniques for choosing suitable academic journals in which to publish a scholarly article. It covers Scopus journals analysis and journal impact factors. At the completion of this workshop participants should be confident that they can select an appropriate journal for their article.

The session will:

  • Enable researchers to understand the publication options available
  • Demonstrate to researchers the resources available to help in decision making
  • Assist researchers to feel confident about making decisions on where to publish

Participants will explore:

  • Factors involved in selecting journals, such as journal relevance and reputation, and types of journals e.g.  transdisciplinary, regional and subject-specific
  • Tools such as UlrichsWeb Periodicals Directory, Scopus and InCites Journal Citation Reports
