Adelaide University offers a range of unique and versatile spaces to book and hire. Each campus has outdoor and indoor venues, including lecture theatres, lawned areas, function rooms, and grand halls. Whether you're planning a conference, workshop, or celebration, our venues combine heritage charm with modern facilities.

Most spaces can be booked by staff and students for university events at no cost. Hire fees apply to bookings by external guests.

How to book

Meeting rooms, lecture theatres, function spaces and some outdoor venues can be booked by staff and students through the Web Room Booking System.  

To book or hire a venue for an external or after-hours event, please complete the External Event Hire Request form. If your event includes alcohol, you must also submit an Application to Serve Alcohol at least two weeks before your event.

Adelaide University’s sporting grounds and affiliated facilities are also available for hire. Please visit the Adelaide University Sport page for locations and to make a booking. 

Catering and alcohol service

Some campuses have outdoor kitchen or barbecue facilities for self-catering. All users must comply with relevant legislation including:

Service of alcohol at events on University property is subject to strict rules and conditions. BYO alcohol is not permitted. Please review the terms on the Alcohol at Campus Events page, where you will be guided to the relevant forms required.

Security

Security guards are required for events serving alcohol with 30 or more guests. One additional guard is required for every 100 attendees.

For events catered by Taikunthi, the National Wine Centre or the UniBar, security costs will be incorporated into the catering quote. For any other security guard hire requirements, you will need to request a quote via the Security Guard Hire form.

Audio visual equipment

Most common teaching spaces are equipped with standard AV facilities including projectors or screens, built-in computers, microphones and speakers.  

Should your event require more complex AV equipment, you are welcome to contact your own choice of third-party provider who will quote and charge for their services separately.

The University’s Information Technology and Digital Services (IT) team are available during business hours via telephone to assist with AV support. On-site assistance will only be available in the case of broken equipment. 

Displaying banners or signage

Approval is required before displaying temporary banners or large event signage on Adelaide University grounds. If you wish to display signage or banners as part of your event, please email the following details to the Facilities Bookings team: 

  • size of the banner

  • intended location of the banner 

  • dates for display

The Facilities Bookings team can provide you with a quote for installation at the approved location if required. 

Furniture hire

Furniture is not available for hire from the University. Individuals who hire furniture and marquees from external providers are responsible for delivery, setup, and collection post-event.

The central Events Team manages a limited collection of branded AU equipment on behalf of the University, including marquees, banners and flags. Items are in high demand, limited to staff and students, and must be booked in advance. Contact the Events Team for more information. 

Event parking

Parking at all Adelaide University campuses is limited, and ad-hoc event parking cannot be guaranteed. In some cases, parking permits may be provided to event organisers.
