Four Areas of Research

Sustainable power, sustainable fuels, sustainable networks and sustainable minerals are our four key areas of research.

Sustainable Power

Encompassing solar thermal energy, advanced combustion technologies, hybrids designed to integrate solar with combustion and thermal energy storage, targeting both electricity production and direct use.

Sustainable Fuels

Production of liquid transportation fuels via solar gasification, liquefaction, liquid fuel synthesis and solar catalysis of CO2 and H2O fuel.

Sustainable Networks

Technologies to integrate renewable energy into conventional and micro-grids, power networks, electrical energy storage and markets.

Sustainable Minerals

Technologies to introduce concentrating solar thermal energy into the primary production of materials such as alumina, copper and iron/steel.
