2025 Luxton Memorial Lecture
Alison Reeve, Energy and Climate Change Program Director at the Grattan Institute, will present the 2025 Luxton Memorial Lecture, “From ambition to action: policy to deliver Australia’s net zero ambitions” on Thursday August 21, in the Braggs Lecture Theatre, the University of Adelaide, from 5:00 – 6:30pm.
New technology for cleaner greener steel
Dr Alfonso Chinnici, from the University of Adelaide’s School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering is leading a project through the Heavy Industry Low Carbon Transition (HILT) CRC to increase the quality of Australian iron ore, whilst reducing emissions.
Adding hydrogen to the renewable energy mix
Blending hydrogen with natural gas in existing networks is a way of reducing carbon emissions. University of Adelaide researchers have led a series of research projects through the Future Fuels CRC, testing domestic and industrial appliances using various percentages of hydrogen to natural gas ratios.

Sparc Hydrogen pilot plant opening ceremony
A first in green hydrogen reactor technology was launched today at the University of Adelaide’s Roseworthy campus by Sparc Hydrogen Pty Ltd, a start-up company founded to translate research developed by Professor Greg Metha. Sparc Hydrogen is a joint venture between Fortescue, Sparc Technologies and the University of Adelaide.

Global HyPT Center members meet in Cranfield
Interim ISER Director Prof Gus Nathan and Acting CET Director Prof Greg Metha travelled to the UK earlier this month to attend the second face-to-face meeting of the Global Hydrogen Production Technologies (HyPT) Center.

Review of CET Research Day 2024
Continuing its annual tradition, the CET held another inspiring Research Day last Tuesday December 10, 2024 at the Sanctuary Function Centre, Adelaide Zoo. It was an event that celebrated the research of students and staff of the Centre, as well as considering the broader challenges and priorities ahead.

CET’s Acting Director, Professor Greg Metha’s breakthrough solar reactor technology for producing hydrogen using concentrated sunlight, water and a photocatalyst in a solar reactor, otherwise known as photocatalytic water splitting, is the focus of a new Chronicle of Higher Education article.
