Walk A Mile In My Boots
For the third year running and led by Professor Mike Brooks, Interim Vice-Chancellor, 85 members of the University Community Volunteering team stepped out to support the Hutt Street Centre's walk a mile in my boots on Friday 11 August 2017. The University Team raised over $3,100 which will go towards supporting Hutt Street Centre programs to help the 6,000 South Australian's facing homelessness.
OzHarvest Revs up at Clipsal 500
Across the four days of Clipsal 500, our University students and volunteers contributed 107 hours for OzHarvest Adelaide. It was an amazing effort with our volunteers working in many different activities from selling fortune cookies, merchandise, Scalextrix tickets and collecting donations. Thanks to all that took part!
OzHarvest - Think.Eat.Save
For the fifth year, Australia’s leading food rescue charity, OzHarvest teamed up with Adelaide’s top chefs in the fight against food waste as part of the annual Think.Eat.Save campaign. Partnering with National Wine Centre the event was held on Monday 24 July at the University of Adelaide, Goodman Lawns. Some of Adelaide's most well-known chefs served almost 2,500 free hot meals from surplus soup and rescued stews made from produce that would have otherwise ended up as landfill.
Carols on Campus
Every year, the Carols on Campus event ends the academic year in song and has become one of the major public events in the University's Calendar. In 2017, over 900 members of the community filled Bonython Hall and were treated to an uplifting celebration of the festive season. The event featured a full academic procession,

The Smith Family
Since 2015, the Community Volunteering Team assisted The Smith Family with Christmas gift preparations including sorting donated goods, toys and book packaging ready for delivery to families in need of a little help.
In 2015, the Community Volunteering Team helped pack Christmas hampers with wholesome foods and festive treats to support and ease the burden of people and families in need at Christmas.
