Economics is everywhere; in the lives of individuals, in the news, in the policy of governments and in the decision-making of big and small organisations. A better understanding of economics is a great way to enhance an established career. This coursework program is ideal for graduates of other disciplines who are searching for that knowledge and understanding of economics concepts and terminology; and want to acquire the core skill set and analytical tools of an economist.

No prior knowledge of economics is required for entry to this degree. Students undertake courses in the core of economics to build up their knowledge of microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics (the application of statistics to economic questions). Applied elective courses offer the opportunity to understand the application of these economic tools and skills to current economic questions.

The Graduate Certificate in Applied Economics is a short program of study, making it attractive to those who want the essentials but who don’t want to commit to a degree of a longer duration. However there is flexibility to continue study in Economics in the Master of Applied Economics.

The University of Adelaide is committed to regular reviews of the courses and programs it offers to students. The University of Adelaide therefore reserves the right to discontinue or vary programs and courses without notice. Please read the important information contained in the disclaimer.
