Plant biotechnology is a dynamic industry where science and technology meet to create sustainable solutions to many of our planet’s environmental problems.
This postgraduate degree allows you to apply your biotechnology knowledge to plant production, human and animal health, biofuels, and ultimately to regulation and commercialisation of plant biotechnology.
You’ll focus on plant form and function from molecular, genetic and bio-chemical perspectives.
The program is designed as a series of short courses, integrating scientific communication, critical thinking, problem solving and bioinformatics. It’s half coursework and half research, and you’ll report your research findings in a manuscript.

Tertiary Qualifications Relevant bachelor degree or equivalent. Completed degree must be in one of the following fields: Agricultural Science, Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Biotechnology, Botany, Genetics, Horticulture and Viticulture.

The Masters is a 48-unit program, comprising 24 units of coursework and 24 units of research. If a student is awarded status/credit for relevant professional and/or research experience, they are required to complete 12 units of research. Students will report their research findings in a manuscript published in either a refereed journal or by the school.
The Masters consist of all listed core courses.

For individual courses, assessment includes exams, written and oral assignments and investigative projects (both individual and group). The research project is assessed by literature review, research proposal, seminar and thesis delivery.
