Chemical engineers sustain and improve industries as diverse as food processing, petrochemicals, ceramics, petroleum refining, primary metals, plastics, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, glass and specialty chemicals.
Our Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Chemical) is suited to engineering graduates and working engineers with relevant experience.
What will you do?
The program acts as a foundational year for the Master of Engineering (Chemical). It’s designed to upskill students for advanced studies and career opportunities. You will:
- explore separation processes
- build expertise in kinetic, reactor, simulation and concept design
- study fluid and particle mechanics
- develop skills for research, communication, critical thinking, business and management.

For those who are based in Adelaide, we will be offering a blended delivery mode that combines face-to-face with remote learning in as many courses as possible, taking into consideration social distancing and hygiene. All lectures will continue to be delivered online for the remainder of the year.
For our students who are studying offshore in Semester 2, the University will continue to offer high-quality access to the learning resources remotely. This includes all lectures, tutorials and other support material. Students will be advised in advance if there are course components that cannot be provided in remote mode and, wherever possible, offered alternative courses.

- biotechnology industries (e.g. biofuel production, production of nutrients from microalgae)

- petrochemicals (e.g. oil refining and natural gas processing)
