Our new Graduate Diploma of Petroleum Engineering Science gives you that power. This cross-disciplinary degree is suitable for petroleum engineering bachelor graduates wishing to advance their skills and seeking a new path.
What will you do?
Completed over 12 months full-time, the degree features an engaging blend of face-to-face tuition, practical problem solving, and team projects.
The program is developed and taught by world-class, industry-trained and research-active academics through our Australian School of Petroleum and Energy Resources (ASPER)—Australia’s only school of its kind, and the leading centre for integrated petroleum research and education throughout the Asia Pacific region.
The wide-ranging and internationally informed curriculum draws on ASPER’s strong collaborations with industry and other leading universities around the world, delivering you:
- knowledge and understanding of contemporary global petroleum engineering developments, including reservoir simulation, uncertainty modelling, enhanced oil recovery, advanced geomechanics and machine-learning applications to petroleum engineering
- skills in selecting and using appropriate, environmentally responsible petroleum engineering methods and techniques in drilling, reservoir and production engineering
- skills in formulating and solving complex petroleum engineering problems using best-practice methods and analysis
- specialised petroleum engineering technical and creative capabilities
- high-level interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
Regular interaction with ASPER’s world-recognised staff and guest industry presenters will also ensure you emerge with a sound base of international connections and real-world insight.
Where could it take you?
You’ll emerge ready to progress in the upstream petroleum industry in Australia or anywhere else in the world. You may also choose to continue your studies with our Master of Petroleum Engineering Science.
For those who are based in Adelaide, we will be offering a blended delivery mode that combines face-to-face with remote learning in as many courses as possible, taking into consideration social distancing and hygiene. All lectures will continue to be delivered online for the remainder of the year, with some exceptions.
For our students who are studying offshore for the remainder of the 2020 Academic Year, the University will continue to offer high-quality access to the learning resources remotely. This includes all lectures, tutorials and other support material. Students will be advised in advance if there are course components that cannot be provided in remote mode and, wherever possible, offered alternative courses.
