Professional Certificate in Environmental Policy and Management
Get the job done
Responding effectively to environmental problems involves far more than applying scientific knowledge, or the ‘top-down’ regulation of people and their environments.
The future of our planet relies on informed and creative thinking around policy and practice. This kind of environmental expertise is critical and in high demand.
What will you do?
Our Professional Certificate in Environmental Policy and Management provides a six-month fast track to making a real difference. You will:
- explore environmental economics, governance and planning in depth
- address how the signature environmental issues of our time are to be managed—from deforestation to global warming and water shortages
- consider how ethics can shape environmental policy and management in different domains
- build advanced research skills.
Where could it take you?
You could set up environmental programs for the public to air their concerns or better understand issues that affect them. You might negotiate environmental policy design with private businesses and government sectors. Perhaps you’ll help implement economic incentives or decentralised solutions to environmental problems.
For our students who are studying offshore in 2021 and 2022, the University will continue to offer high-quality access to the learning resources remotely for most programs. This includes all lectures, tutorials and other support material. Students will be advised in advance if there are course components that cannot be provided in remote mode and, wherever possible, offered alternative courses. The University has numerous support networks to assist students with adjusting to their new lifestyle, and the difficulties this may bring. My time at University of Adelaide has been terrific and fulfilling, as I have had the opportunity to thrive in a different educational environment.
I have established new friendships, studied an array of interesting and challenging courses which have allowed me to push myself to perform to my highest academic standard.
My degree has enabled me to complete an internship and various electives which have allowed me to gain practical experience and insight to other societal issues. This has complimented both my degrees extremely well with some areas slightly overlapping, consequently reinforcing my knowledge of these concepts.
The University of Adelaide is committed to regular reviews of the courses and programs it offers to students. The University of Adelaide therefore reserves the right to discontinue or vary programs and courses without notice. Please read the important information contained in the disclaimer.
