Entry Requirements

Please note: For programs including placements and/or study-related activities in settings where COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory, it is an inherent requirement that all students be fully vaccinated prior to undertaking the placement and/or study-related activity.
For our students who are studying offshore in 2022, the University will continue to offer high-quality access to the learning resources remotely for most programs. This includes all lectures, tutorials and other support material. Students will be advised in advance if there are course components that cannot be provided in remote mode and, wherever possible, offered alternative courses.

Degree Structure

In the first year of the degree, you will gain the background necessary for a career in business. Core courses include Accounting, Commercial Law, Data Analytics, Finance, Marketing, and Managing Organisations and People. In subsequent years, the focus is on developing the technical, human and social skills required for business management. With its flexible structure, you will be able to undertake a second major in marketing or international business. Alternatively you may choose to take two minors in a range of different areas such as entrepreneurship, creativity and critical thinking, cyber security, small and family business management and public administration. With the BBM, you will graduate career ready for the business world of today and have the knowledge, skills and confidence to adapt to the demands of tomorrow.

Areas of Specialisation

As part of your degree, you may choose to undertake at least one Minor to the value of 12 units; this encourages deeper learning in related topics and can be used to add diversity of skills to the overall program.

Business Management
The Business Management minor will give you the foundational knowledge and skills to prepare you for a leadership or management role in the future.

Corporate Finance
A minor in Corporate Finance will provide you with a solid foundation in the tools and techniques that financial managers use to make investment and financing decisions.

Creativity and Critical Thinking
Applying skills in research, analysis, and teamwork to problem-solving in a range of disciplinary and professional contexts, you will learn how to bring new thinking and ideas to your area of professional expertise.

Economics
This minor helps you explore the various aspects of economic decision-making, and provides you with the basics needed to get the most out of economic news and reports.

Entrepreneurship
In this entrepreneurship minor you will develop the ability to think more creatively and use entrepreneurial thinking to identify, create, develop and scale innovative opportunities that are sustainable across the fast pace of change that is now the norm.

Financial Services
Choose this minor if you are keen to learn about Big Data, financial technology ('FinTech'), global wealth management, estate planning, cryptocurrency and more.

International Business
The minor in International Business develops foundation knowledge and skills that help organisations create value across borders.

Management Consulting
Management consultants explore ways in which people, strategy, structure, and operations can be developed to improve business performance. Building on the core course ‘Client Relationships and the Role of Technology’, the Management Consulting minor will give you the foundation to prepare you for a future career in management consulting.

Marketing
The role of marketing is to determine the most appropriate way to communicate and deliver the offering to its target consumers. This minor helps you develop the skills and competencies required to succeed in today’s highly competitive, global market.

Marketing in South Australia
Central to our economy are the business-to-business transactions, exporting, family businesses, and the wine industry. The minor in Marketing in South Australia aims to provide you with an opportunity to gain increased skills that will help you to succeed in this market.

Organisational Cybersecurity
The minor in Organisational Cyber Security has a business and employee focus. Key focal areas include the fundamentals of organisational information systems and management; and identifying and managing cyber risks, threats and controls.

Project Management
By undertaking the project management minor, you will broaden your understanding in business to include project-oriented endeavours.

Public Administration
This elective provides you with the opportunity to develop knowledge of principles of project management and skills in their application. Skills in project management are highly valued in the public sector.

Small and Family Business Management
The minor in Small and Family Business Management will provide you with a sound understanding of the issues surrounding the lifecycles of the business, ownership and the family, development of appropriate governance and management systems, marketing and international expansion.
