Honours Degree of Bachelor of Food & Nutrition Science

Researchers in the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Adelaide are international leaders in their fields, working at the cutting edge of science and technology. Our prerequisite for honours research study is at least a credit standard GPA.

What will you do?

  • Conduct a research project on a chosen food and nutrition topic.

  • Produce an extended research report or thesis.

Please note: For programs including placements and/or study-related activities in settings where COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory, it is an inherent requirement that all students be fully vaccinated prior to undertaking the placement and/or study-related activity.
For our students who are studying offshore in 2022, the University will continue to offer high-quality access to the learning resources remotely for most programs. This includes all lectures, tutorials and other support material. Students will be advised in advance if there are course components that cannot be provided in remote mode and, wherever possible, offered alternative courses.

Career Readiness

The scientific approach to problem-solving, maturity and self-discipline gained during the Honours year equips our graduates for a wide variety of careers.  Examples of the jobs that our Honours graduates find are: policy advisors, consultants, science communicators, analysts and researchers in universities, hospitals, government and industry. 

 Further Study

Honours graduates may choose to continue their research training with postgraduate study such as a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).  A PhD is usually a 3 year program that provides students with the opportunity to carry out an original research project and explore in great detail a specific area of science.
