Our Master of Computing and Innovation is designed to build the communication, project management and innovation skills needed to thrive in a growing industry.

This degree will still be invaluable if you already have computer science qualifications. We’ll simply vary your program to reflect your existing knowledge.

Where could it take you?

You’ll graduate ready to take on a wide range of IT-based roles. You could be a computer scientist, web developer or tech entrepreneur. You might manage IT contracts and projects in the government sector. Perhaps you’ll work in marketing, selling exciting new IT products to the public.

Throughout the program, students are immersed in activities where academic theory meets real-world industry connections, forging a path towards a successful career.

Staff maintain a close connection to industries through Cybersecurity CRC, a platform to connect researchers to industry; and the Australian Institute of Machine Learning, which provides connections to the defence industry, e.g. BAE Systems, Amazon, Dubber AI, Oz Minerals, and more. These connections provide staff and students with an inside track to the latest trends, breakthrough technologies, and emerging opportunities.

Professional Accreditation

The Master of Computing and Innovation is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). It is designed to provide a professional qualification in computing and information technology and also provides the necessary academic requirements for membership of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).

Degree Structure

To qualify for the Master of Computing and Innovation, students must satisfactorily complete a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 48 units comprising:
  • Core courses to the value of 27 units
  • Research equivalent courses to the value of 9 units in the form of a team-based applied research project
  • Elective courses to the value of 12 units
  • Unless exempted, international students are required to take ENG 7057 Communication and Critical Thinking in lieu of an elective
