Make big data your big opportunity

The ability to make sense of big data will make you highly sought-after the world over. Combine it with an understanding of decision science and your career opportunities will be near limitless.

Our new Undergraduate Certificate in Applied Data Analytics provides a valuable first step towards achieving just that. It’s ideal for upskilling, strengthening your CV, or laying the foundations for a full, related bachelor degree.

What will you do?

Conducted over six months full-time or 12 months part-time, this flexible program is designed and taught by our world-class, research-active data analytics experts. Through a flexible combination of face-to-face and digital learning, you will:

  • gain a broad, introductory knowledge of the principles underpinning big-data analytics and decision science, and their roles in society
  • build fundamental skills in applying these disciplines’ methods within a chosen discipline—agriculture, bioinformatics, economics, environment, geosciences or public health
  • learn to apply critical, independent thinking to conduct sound data analysis and solve simple big-data problems.

Where could it take you?

You could go on to a full bachelor degree in applied data analytics, or possibly science, agricultural science, mineral geoscience or even wildlife conservation—whether to start your first career, or a rewarding new one. You might draw on your enhanced capabilities to step up in an existing role. Perhaps the qualification will help you win a well-deserved promotion.

*Commonwealth Support for the Undergraduate Certificates is only available to domestic students in 2021 as part of the Australian Government's Job Ready Graduates package. On current advice, you must also complete the qualification by 31 December 2021. Students can look to continue further studies into a Bachelor degree with credit.

Please note:
Semester one applications close on 8th March, 2021. The late application fee for semester one, 2021 will be waived.
