Associate Professor Catherine Snelling

Biography/ Background
Associate Professor Catherine Snelling is an Education Specialist Academic at the Adelaide Dental School. After undertaking post-graduate studies in on-line education, Cathy has increasingly used a blended learning approach in her teaching. She has led three UoA-funded Learning and Teaching projects and has been an active member on other search teams including two ALTC-funded on undergraduate research skill development. Cathy has extensive experience as an author of peer-reviewed articles has presented at national and international learning and teaching conferences.
Cathy is currently jointly leading an Office Learning and Teaching Category 1 Research Grant on building teacher capacity to successfully implement flipped learning into higher education. She is also a leading dental academic in simulation teaching including the use of virtual reality (haptics) in developing pre-clinical skills in oral health students.
Cathy is a Director on the governing board of the Australian Dental Council, has led several accreditation teams and was instrumental in developing an examination pathway for overseas qualified dental therapists and dental hygienists.
She is an Executve member of the College of Oral Health Academics, a special interest group comprising of academic teaching into oral health programs across Australasia.
Cathy is a member of the inaugural Adelaide Education Academy Executive group.
