  • Biography/ Background

    Dr. Hammed Musibau is a Research Fellow and Government-Commissioned Research Economist at the School of Economics and Public Policy, University of Adelaide, Australia. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Tasmania, where his doctoral research focused on the determinants of economic growth, with particular emphasis on environmental quality and human capital.

    His research spans Environmental Economics, Macroeconomics, Labour Economics, Education Economics, International Trade, and Applied Econometrics. Prior to his current role, Dr. Musibau served as an Economist at the Queensland Government’s Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, and held academic positions as a doctoral researcher, lecturer, and research assistant at the University of Tasmania.

    Dr. Musibau has contributed to multiple projects evaluating the socio-economic impacts of energy policy reform, including the role of environmental performance and power dynamics in economic growth. He has developed educational outcomes data using factor analysis and the Chow Lin (1971) technique, producing annual series for 37 OECD countries, and has examined the effects of education quality on economic growth with support from the Tasmania School of Business and Economics.

    He also participated in the Queensland Pasture Resilience Program, a government-funded initiative addressing pasture dieback and declining land conditions affecting beef productivity. This collaboration involved the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, Meat & Livestock Australia, and the MLA Donor Company. Additionally, he contributed to the review of the Breedcow and Dynama software used in livestock management across Queensland.
