Barr Smith Library
I am of Malak-Malak heritage, a descendant of the people of Daly River N.T from the Marrithiyel language group and of Anglo-Australian /German heritage. My career profile spans across a broad range of industries including Aboriginal Drug and Alcohol and substance abuse support, Indigenous Arts Coordinator, and a Curator in Australian Indigenous Art. I also worked as an Environmental Advisor in the natural resources and civil construction industry.
I have been at the University of Adelaide since 2018 where I worked part-time as the Indigenous Student Support Officer for the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences before moving into my current role as Indigenous Support Librarian at the Barr Smith Library. This new role supports the learning and teaching activities of the University’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, staff and researchers with a strong emphasis on stakeholder engagement and maintaining effective working relationships with Wirtlu Yarlu Aboriginal Education. The Indigenous Support Librarian is also responsible for coordinating collection development and contributing to the promotion of the Library’s Indigenous knowledge’s collection, Yaitya Ngutupira.
