  • Biography/ Background

As a teacher in the secondary sector for 21 years, I was involved in computer education from the outset, and for many years (at Norwood High) developed and ran computer awareness, programming and extension computer courses.  Later, at Willunga High, I was involved with development of the first SAS computer studies course.

At Norwood HighI wrote and implemented administrative software, including a finance system, on the first computer (mini-computer) in a Sth Australian public school.  Other administrative packages were also implemented, including clas listing and timetabling support systems.

    Research Management:

Having joined the Research Branch at Adelaide in 1996 as a data analyst, I was seconded to Project Endeavour to investigate and implement a research management system.  The implementation of ResearchMaster in late 1999 has been followed by in-house customisation and business process additions to enhance research management.

My interests in forwarding research system development and in developing innovative processes have led to my:

    • Being asked to present at biennial ResearchMaster conferences
    • Being invited to present a paper on research systems at Educause, Auckland 2005
    • Being asked by Auckland University to advise on their ResearchMaster implementation
    • Presenting a paper at AAIR, Canberra 2008 on in-house developments and system integration

  • Qualifications

    1973 Dip. Ed (Adelaide)
