Dr Selina Tually is a Research Fellow with the Centre for Housing, Urban and Regional Planning at University of Adelaide. She has a PhD in Geography (Regional Economic Development) from Flinders University. Her thesis investigated The Limits to Main Street Programs as a Local Economic Development Strategy, looking at the case of Beach Road Main Street Project Inc., Christies Beach, South Australia.

Selina’s areas of research interest include disability and housing, women and housing, housing policy, homelessness, social inclusion and local, regional and community economic development. She has worked across these areas of interest since 2004 and was previously employed with the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute’s Southern Research Centre.

Dr Tually is the project manager of the Flinders- and Adelaide University-led National Homelessness Research Partnership and is currently involved in two projects under that Partnership: a project on homelessness and newly arrived migrants and a project on the role of philanthropists in the homelessness sector. She is also currently working on a project on the future of Australia’s country towns to 2050, funded by the National Climate Change Adaptation Facility (NCCARF).

Dr Tually was also recently involved with two AHURI funded projects: one on the drivers of housing supply and demand in rural and regional centres and the other on the role of housing assistance in promoting social inclusion for people with a disability.

Selina has written about and spoken extensively on women and housing and has undertaken research for a range of government and non-government agencies, including Defence SA and the Australian Army, Housing SA, Julia Farr Ms McLeod and City of Onkaparinga.
