Confidentiality & Disclosure
Disability Support provides a confidential service. Information obtained from you about the functional impact of your disability or health condition is used to identify Reasonable Adjustments to assist you with your studies.
No personal information provided will be disclosed outside of Disability Support without your permission. Your engagement with Disability Support will not appear on your academic record or transcript.
Legal obligations to disclose personal information can occur as a result of a Duty of Care or a court ordered Subpoena. In these circumstances it may be necessary for information about your disability or health condition to be shared outside of the University.
Disability Support asks students to disclose relevant information about their circumstances for the purpose of making Reasonable Adjustments. The decision to disclose is a personal choice.
ADCET (Australian Disability Clearinghouse on Education and Training) has developed some useful information about disclosure which may help you to understand when and why you may choose to disclose your medical condition or disability, and how this may assist you with negotiating Reasonable Adjustments to your studies at University.
