A Partnership for now and the future
The University's partnership with Carbon Neutral Adelaide is our long-term commitment to a sustainable and prosperous future for South Australia.
In November 2016, the University became the first founding partner of Carbon Neutral Adelaide, a joint initiative between the State Government and the Adelaide City Council to make the Adelaide the world’s first carbon neutral city. The Carbon Neutral Adelaide Action Plan 2016-2021 identifies a partnership framework to involve the community in decision-making, priority setting and implementation of the state’s Climate Change Strategy.
The partnership will give University staff and students the opportunity to progress research and development into low carbon industries and lifestyles, contribute to industry development and participate in leadership and knowledge sharing networks.
In line with this focus, the University of Adelaide also became the first University Foundation partner in the Australian Climate Knowledge Innovation Community (Climate-KIC). Modelled on the European Union version, Climate-KIC Australia combines business, research and innovation to identify and develop the market potential of emerging technologies, and create new products, services and jobs that will have a global impact on climate change.
