A Plan For Our Campus Future
The University of Adelaide Campus Sustainability Plan details the first coordinated suite of emission reduction projects that will begin to transition our University to low-carbon operations.
More than $12m will be dedicated to carbon emission reduction projects at the university's three campuses, including efficient lighting retrofits, mechanical equipment upgrades and installation of solar PV. Complementing campus infrastructure improvements, are strategies relating to sustainable procurement, staff and student engagement, training and skills development.
Targets and strategies detailed in the Plan have significant support, derived from consultation with hundreds of staff and students, and informed by campus audits. The Plan aims to foster a cultural change towards long term, environmentally responsible decision-making, where sustainability is embedded into campus life.
The Plan in a nutshell
- Three key themes: Transformation, Collaboration and Inspiration.
- Seven targets: relating to energy reduction, renewable energy, landfill diversion, water reduction, engagement, training and skills, and procurement.
- Thirty-one strategies: led by the Infrastructure branch and involving all areas of the University
