The Genographic Project

The University of Adelaide and RiAus were proud to host the public participation in the Genographic Project. Have you ever wanted to know where your ancient ancestors came from dating back 60,000 years?

Adelaide residents, who make up one of the most diverse populations in Australia, had the opportunity to find out about their deep migratory history at the free public participation event held last Friday October 15 at the Adelaide Central Markets. A reveal lecture is to be held in December and participants who received a free kit are invited to attend. More information will be available soon.

The first 100 members of the public* received a free Genographic kit valued at over $145. For those that missed out, kits will are on sale at the RiAus. Kits can also be purchased online here.

*The 100 free kits were on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to one male or female member from each family. Kits take approximately 4 to 6 weeks to process. Participants receiving a free kit will be invited to a reveal event at the Science Exchange on Tuesday 7 December. For more information about the event please read the FAQs on the Genographic Project website.
