Alumnus Christopher Moten donated a violin which belonged to his mother Kathleen Meegan, a graduate of the Elder Conservatorium in 1917.
When Kathleen died in 1983 her youngest child Dr Christopher Moten inherited her treasured violins, one of which was an Italian Gagliano violin made in 1792.
In 2013, on the 100th anniversary of his mother entering the Conservatorium, Christopher donated this priceless heirloom to the University. It is the oldest instrument in the collection and is treasured by staff and students. Find out more
