Terry has enjoyed a long and distinguished medical career across pharmacy and medicine. He is also currently a teacher and mentor in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences here at the University.

It is to help bright students like Kaviya, who would struggle to continue their studies in medicine that Terry established scholarships in his name.

Kaviya's story

When Kaviya’s dad unexpectedly had to move overseas to look after an ill family member, she knew that money would be tight with her mum only able to work part-time. The Terry Farquharson Medical Scholarship was the lifeline she needed to study at the University of Adelaide, and become a doctor.

"My dream is to become a caring and proficient doctor working part-time, alongside research or volunteering in a rural community or third world country.
I am so thankful for your support and the trust you have put in me by offering this generous scholarship. You have made an amazing impact on my life, and I won’t forget the help you have given.”Kaviya Kalyanasundaram, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery student and 2019 Dr Terry Farquharson Medical Scholarship recipient.
