Fund Scholarships

We believe that a University of Adelaide education should be accessible. That is why we have made a commitment to offering scholarships to disadvantaged students.

For many students, a scholarship is the only way they will be able to take on their tertiary education.

Every year we invite our community to give to the Augustus Short Scholarship Appeal. These scholarships are focused on providing a lifeline to country students who are facing financial disadvantage.

Growing up in Wallaroo I always knew that I wanted to be a vet. For me, going to uni meant leaving mum, dad and the community I’d grown up in. What made a difference for me was receiving this scholarship.Catherine Sloper, 2018 Augustus Short Scholarship recipient and Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Science) student

Your gift to the Augustus Short Scholarship fund will ensure students like Catherine aren't held back from reaching their potential.

Support students with a disability

Making sure students with a disability are supported throughout their university studies is a priority for Alistair McEwin.

Alumnus and Australian Disability Discrimination Commissioner Alistair, together with his husband Professor Michael Kidd AM, created the Alistair McEwin Scholarship fund because they know first-hand that tackling University with a disability can be a challenge.

Aidan Barry is the inaugural recipient of the Alistair McEwin Scholarship. His story demonstrates the practical impact that a scholarship can have.
