Geocoded data has the potential to inform our understanding of complex issues by enabling tabular address data to be mapped and analysed spatially.
Geocoding address data creates opportunities for data linkage and spatial analysis that can enrich research findings. For example, mapping data can help to identify patterns, hotspots, and explore relationships between different datasets that can otherwise be difficult to detect when location is not considered.
MapMonkey is an innovative software tool which enables high accuracy geocoding of address data. Utilising PSMA’s G-NAF (Geocoded National Address File), MapMonkey uses hierarchical, probabilistic matching methods to enhance geocoding outcomes for Australian addresses. These methods allow address records to be analysed at a very fine level increasing the likelihood of identifying geographic patterns in data.
